Program Presentation

The Master in Health Promotion and Community Health seeks to strengthen the skills and capacities of individuals and groups or communities to act collectively to exercise control over health determinants. This is possible through professionals trained to carry out the necessary actions for its conception, implementation, and evaluation, thus generating well-being and quality of life in populations.

This Master is designed to contribute to professional training through a high-level academic program that allows students to develop reflective, critical, and humanistic thinking.

The Master in Health Promotion and Community Health has a novel academic articulation focused on the development of scientific knowledge and research, which generates skills and sustainable solutions to respond to the needs of health promotion and community health to improve individual and community care.

Who is the programme for?

Individuals with a bachelor's degree in healthcare, education, marketing, and communications. Potential students seek to acquire knowledge in the field of health promotion and community health management. This training will allow the student to perform more efficiently in their job, broaden the student's job placement possibilities, or offer qualitative leverage given the competitive professional environment.

Diploma

Successful completion of the program will lead to a Master's Degree in Health Promotion and Community Health.

Upon successful completion of the Program, the student will receive the degree issued by the university where they have enrolled.

Objectives

General Objective

Train specialists with a multidisciplinary profile to acquire knowledge and tools aimed at adequately interpreting the conceptual elements of health promotion and community health in order to apply them through interventions to improve individual and community healthcare. Provide the necessary transversal competencies to achieve quality professional actions, aimed at the development of healthy environments and lifestyles.

Specific Objectives

The educational objectives of the Master in Health Promotion and Community Health are:

  • Recognize and strengthen the theoretical and methodological basis of health promotion and education.
  • Critically interpret the conceptual elements related to population health and its links with the strategies and approaches to health promotion and health education.
  • Apply educational techniques for the implementation of health promotion and education interventions.
  • Develop skills and abilities for the effective implementation of programs related to health promotion and education.
  • Develop interventions related to health promotion and education.
  • Establish effective communication and leadership with individuals, family, and community, as well as with work teams.
  • Contribute to the improvement of the health of individuals and communities by changing risk behaviors.

Career Opportunities

Professionals graduated from this program will be able to work in public or private administrations, locally and internationally, in charge of health promotion activities or within services aimed at promoting the health of people within the organization.

Study Plan

The Master in Health Promotion and Community Health has a total duration of 90 credits. The program has a curricular structure based on two complementary formative parts to achieve comprehensive training:

  • Part I: SUBJECTS
  • Part II: MASTER'S FINAL PROJECT

Part I: SUBJECTS (80 CREDITS)

The first part focuses on acquiring knowledge and tools to interpret the concepts of health promotion and community health, as well as to apply interventions to improve healthcare. It includes the assessment of the health status of populations, the development of skills to implement health promotion programs, and knowledge of health management concepts. It also seeks to train in the design and evaluation of interventions, selection of appropriate epidemiological methods, mastery of technological tools, effective team leadership, improvement of healthcare management, and application of appropriate communication techniques. It seeks to prepare students to contribute to the improvement of community health through practical and effective actions.

PART II: MASTER'S FINAL PROJECT (10 CREDITS)

The Master's Final Project or Thesis, which has a course load of 10 credits, has the objective of presenting a complete work that shows the total development of a project, contemplating the possibility of its concrete execution according to the guidelines and details of the proposal presented.
